Psychologist, Founder & CEO

Dr. James Davison, Jr. is the founder of, and principal moderator
of the podcast Sweet Release. He is a licensed clinical psychologist, university professor, and the author of two books — Prisoners of Our Past, and Sweet Release — promoting progressive individuality and psychological freedom for African-Americans. His
upcoming new work — Paid In Full — addresses the psychological and cultural
significance of having attained equal opportunity for all Americans.

Dr. Davison conducts a private practice, and has appeared on several nationally-aired
programs including The Phil Donahue Show, The Ken Hamblin Show, National Public
Radio’s All Things Considered and C-SPAN’s Book TV. While his main focus is in
devoting attention to mental health practice, writing, and consultation, he does actively
support the American Cancer Society, and his granddaughters’ tenacious demand for
popsicles whenever they come to visit.

Originally from Philadelphia, he has also lived in Chicago and now currently resides in
the Seattle area. However, despite the clamor of the locals, he has yet to be convinced
that $4.95 is a fair price for an Iced Mocha. No thanks, he’ll stick to his Yoo-hoos.
